Charles Begay Tufa Cast Bracelet - US Navajo 2
US Navajo 2 stamped bracelet identifying it as from The C.G. Wallace shop in Zuni, NM. The silversmith, Charles Begay, was one of the navajo smiths who worked for C.G. Wallace in the 1930’s and 40. Tufa casts only last for a few times, and as was the common practice, he made several variations of that same design, one of which is in the Sotheby’s catalog of the CG Wallace Collection of American Indian Art page 99, item 565, from the 1975 auction.
The bracelet measures 1 7/8” at center widest point.
Interior length end to end: 5 1/2”
Gap between ends is 1 1/4”.
